Jonathan Newnham heads team for Caribbean golf championship
The youngest golfer - at 13 years - to represent Jamaica at the senior level, Jonathan Newnham was today (Friday May 1) named in the team to represent Jamaica in the Caribbean Amateur Junior Golf Championship scheduled for July 5-10 at the Cinnamon Hill Golf Course in Montego Bay. Vitorria Marley, at 15 years is the youngest female golfer to represent Jamaica at the senior level was also named among the team. Both golfers represented Jamaica last year in the Caribbean Amateur Golf Championship in Cayman where they performed creditably.
Nine islands across the Caribbean will battle for top honours in Caribbean Amateur Junior Golf Championship. Last year Jamaica came fourth, its best showing to date.
The Jamaican team will compete in three age group categories, i.e. 13 and Under, 14 -15 and 16-17. The full team including the reserve is as below:

The national trials to select the team was held from Wednesday - Thursday (April 8-9) at the Cinnamon Hill Golf Course where Newnham topped the score ending on 149 with 74 on day one and 75 on day two.
Several sponsors are already on board including Jamaica Broilers, Lucozade Sport, Pan Caribbean, Pan Jam, Jablum, Billy Craig, Sagicor, Superior Parts, Wisnyco and Cinnamon Hill Golf Course.
