James hoping to stay hot »

"I have been doing well all season and I am ready to deliver as I want to better my previous best of 52.14 seconds done at the World Youth Championships last year," said James, who finished third for bronze, told Star Sports.

James' Vere Techical after dominating the 4x400 metres for the entire season last year and in the early meets this season, had to play second fiddle to a determined Holmwood Technical at the Gibson Relays, with anchor runner Shericka Jackson nipping to finish on the line by Holmwood Technical's Chris-Ann Gordon, with Vere third behind winners Team Bickle from the USA.

" That is only a small setback for us and we have a very strong 4x400 metres team. I am pretty confident that we will return to our winning ways at Champs, because losing to Holmwood has made us stronger and we will be more determined to win."
