Swimmer Leah Martindale became the first black woman to reach an individual swimming finals at the Olympics. She placed 5th in the women's 50m freestyle.
Sprinter Obadele Thompson came fourth in the men’s 200m finals.
2000 - SYDNEY
Obadele Thompson filled his countrymen with pride as he became the first individual medallist for Barbados, winning a bronze medal in the Games' marquee event, the 100m finals. He also placed 4th in the 200m.
2004 - ATHENS
Obadele Thompson once again made the 100m finals, placing 7th.
