Campbell, Simpson, Stewart advance in 200m
BEIJING – Defending 200m champion Veronica Campbell-Brown led Jamaican qualifiers into the second round of the half lap event at the Bird’s Nest stadium today (Tuesday).
In heat five, Campbell-Brown was a relaxed winner in 23.04 seconds. Kerron Stewart and Sherone Simpson, joint silver medalist from the 100m, are also through to the second round, set for this afternoon.
Simpson (22.91) was second in heat six while Stewart (23.03) took third in heat four.
Meanwhile, in the field, Chelsea Hammond leapt 6.60m, but failed to make the final of the women’s long jump.
