Ray Stewart- 100m –Silver

Men’s 4x100m relay-Bronze

Ray Stewart clocked 10.03 to win Jamaica’s first medal in the men’s 100m.

1991
Winthrop Graham- 400m hurdles-Silver
Women’s 4x100m relay- Gold
Men’s 4x400m relay- Bronze
Merlene Ottey- 100m - Bronze
Merlene Ottey – 200m – Bronze

The women team made up of  Dahlia Duhaney,Juliet Cuthbert,Beverly McDonald and Merlene Ottey clocked 41.94 seconds to win Jamaica’s first gold medal in a relay at the World Championships.

1993

Women ‘s 4x100m relay- Bronze

Merlene Ottey wins her first individual Gold medal in 200m at the World Championships with a time of 21.98 seconds.

James Beckford begins to represents Jamaica and wins Jamaica’s first medal in a field event at the World Championships by getting a silver medal in the Long Jump.

Michelle Freeman –100m hurdles- Bronze

Jamaica wins no gold medals at this championship and is placed 27th on the medal table with seven medals, three silver and four bronze.

Jamaica gets silver and gold medals in the 200m with Merlene Frazier tying with Germany’s Andrea Phillips for the Bronze medal.

Men’s 4x400 relay - Bronze 
Greg Haughton – 400m - Bronze
Women - 4x100m relay- Bronze 

Christopher Williams barely beats Kim Collins of St. Kitts and Shawn Crawford of the USA to win the silver in the 200m in a time of 20.20. Collins and Crawford tied for Bronze.

2003

Lorraine Fenton -  400m - Silver
Brigitte Foster-Hylton – 100m Hurdles – Silver
Women - 4x400m – Bronze 
Michael Blackwood- 400m- Bronze

Brigitte Foster-Hylton wins her first medal at the IAAF World Championships in 100m hurdles where she copped the silver medal with a time of 12.57 seconds.

2005

Women - 4x100m relay- Silver
Veronica Campbell – 100m- Silver
Delloreen Ennis-London- 100m hurdles- Silver 
Brigitte Foster-Hylton- 100m hurdles - Bronze 
Michael Frater – 100m - Silver
Men 4x400m – Bronze

Jamaica won its first medal in the Triple Jump courtesy of Tricia Smith who not only medalled but earned a gold. She makes the three longest jumps in the final to take the gold. Her final leap was 15.11 metres.

Maurice Smith earns Jamaica’s first medal in the Decathlon event by winning a silver medal.
