Stage set for intense men's 100m final »

The stage has been set for an intense men's 100m final at the World Championships in Berlin, Germany.  

Six of the final eight clocked sub-ten times with world record holder Usain Bolt jogging to get the fastest time in the semi-finals.

In the first semi-finals of the 100m, Bolt false started. However the eight man race was reduced to seven after a second false start by Tyrone Edgar from Great Britian cause him to be disqualified. 

When the race finally got underway Bolt jogged for most of the race, winning in 9.89. Daniel Bailey from Antigua was second running 9.96, Darvis Patton from the US came third in 9.98 while Marc Burns from Trinidad secured the fourth spot in 10.01.

In the second semi-final Asafa Powell lead for most of his race but slowed down to come second in 9.95

Tyson Gay passed Powell on the line to win the semi-final in 9.93

Richard Thompson from Trinidad placed third in 9.98 while Dwaine Chambers from Great Britian got the final qualifying spot coming fourth in 10.04.

Michael Frater did not advanced to the final as he finished fifth in 10.14.
