JAAA awaits report to decide on MVP athletes fate »
President of the Jamaica Amateur Athletics Association (JAAA) Howard Ares says the association is awaiting a report to determine the fate of the six MVP athletes who missed the mandatory pre-World Championship training camp.
He said they could still face disciplinary actions for missing the camp held in Nuremburg, Germany between August 6 and 11.
The athletes are Asafa Powell, Shelly-Ann Fraser, Melaine Walker, Brigitte Foster-Hylton, Shericka Williams and Kaliese Spencer.
Ares says the local association is now awaiting a written report from the team management before deciding how to proceed.
All six athletes were pulled from the World Championship team but were restored after Lamine Diack, the president of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) intervened on their behalf.
The issue with Veronica Campbell-Brown, who withdrew from the women’s 4x100 metre relay team, could also head to the disciplinary committee.
