Stewart challenges athletes to rise above criticism »

Beijing Olympics and Berlin World Championship 100-metre silver medallist Kerron Stewart has called on her Jamaican teammates to remain strong in light of criticism.

Stewart says she is aware that the credibility of the Jamaican athletes has been questioned following their dominations on the world stage.

At last month’s World Championship in Berlin, China, the country ended with a record haul of 13 medals including seven gold and Stewart says the achievements were based on hard work.

Stewart, who arrived in the country earlier this afternoon after ending her season last week, says she is on a mission to influence people in a positive way.

The government will recognise the achievements of the athletes at the World Championships in Berlin, Germany by staging three days of celebration.

The celebratory event is scheduled to take place from October 2 to 4. It is dubbed the 'The Berlin Salute - a Tribute to Our Athletes'.
